The City of Geneva, like other Chicago suburbs, is considering mandatory fire sprinkler installations in new residential builds. If approved, the sprinkler requirement would not take effect until December 30, 2019, but as a home builder we feel passionate about this potential change. Depending on the square footage of a home, and the layout, fire sprinklers can add tens of thousands of dollars to a new home. While we believe in safety always, we also feel that it should be the homeowners choice on how they choose to spend their money.

Wallpaper is back and has never been better! Well, to be honest, wallpaper never left it just wasn’t as widely used. Today, even your favorite home furniture retailers carry their own lines of wallpaper. In one of our recent builds in Geneva, our client chose a texturized wallpaper in a beautiful blue/gray color that runs all the way up to the second floor foyer. The soft grasscloth-like surface is the perfect contrast to the white, wood trim. While the wallpaper makes a statement, it is neutral enough to layer with pictures and artwork.
